How can you identify if Persian blue salt is real or fake?
Color: It should have a bluish-grey color. If it’s too vibrant, it might not be real.
Texture: It should feel coarse and crystalline, not overly processed. Real blue salt is rougher and often has an uneven grain structure, while fake salt may appear more uniform.
Taste: It has a unique, slightly mineral and tangy taste. If it tastes too salty or not distinct, it may not be genuine.
Source: Purchase from reputable sellers or specialty stores. Authentic Persian blue salt is sourced from specific regions in Iran.
Please note that Iranian Blue salt is not 100% blue. It naturally contains white streaks and crystals mixed with blue grain.
The blue color comes from the natural mineral structure and does not color your food or water. In fact:
Fake blue salt is often artificially dyed, giving it an unnatural, uniform blue color that stains water and food, and it also tastes different from real Persian blue salt.
During crushing, grinding, and powdering, the salt looks whiter because the blue grains become much smaller and mix within the white crystals. However, you will still see small blue specks inside the salt if you look carefully.
The two characteristics of “transparency and the presence of blue veins in it” and the whiteness of the crushed grains of this salt crystal are the main characteristics that will help you distinguish the original blue salt from fake salt. By considering these factors, you can better determine if the salt is genuine.
Dear valued customers from around the world
Please note that the color of Persian Blue Salt is not 100% solid blue. It does not appear as a bright or uniformly blue crystal. Instead, when the rock salt crystals are crushed, they naturally reveal a beautiful mix of blue and white veins.
To ensure complete transparency, we photograph our products in natural light without any color enhancement or exaggeration. What you see in our images is the authentic and original color of Persian Blue Salt — exactly as it’s found in nature.
The colors have never been edited or modified; they are 100% natural, reflecting the true beauty of this rare Iranian salt.

Mining and Production
Mining process combines traditional expertise with modern machinery, ensuring efficiency and high product quality. Experienced workers carefully extract the salt crystals, which are then cleaned, sorted, and prepared for packaging. Extracting this salt is not easy, as it requires a lot of patience and skill. The miners have to dig deep into the earth, and face hard conditions.
The drilling time of the blue salt mine can take months or even years, depending on the quality and quantity of the salt. After the salt is mined, it is crushed and sorted to obtain the beautiful blue crystals that are ready for use. After various operations, such as explosions, large chunks of rock salt are extracted from the mountain and fall to the ground. The workers are very hardworking, and with great effort they separate the crystal formations from the rock salt using tools like hammers, chisels and pickaxes. Heavy machinery such as loaders also operate in the mine.
A portion of the rock salt is sent to the laboratory for chemical analysis and certification. After quality approval, the workers collect the blue salt crystals in nano-plastic bags. These bags do not absorb any moisture, so the rock salt remains dry inside. These bags move to the grinding stage, where we can send our cargo to special mills and then, transfer to conveyor belt and finally it is sorted into different forms.
The sieve part separates into 3 sizes: coarse, granulated and powdered, and put each size in the appropriate tank and each size is packed separately.
